Our president
Sir Jackie Stewart

Springfield is a truly amazing Club. To have such staying power is in itself very special when you consider it has been operating for over 46 years.
Like anything else that is successful, it is down to people. In the case of Springfield, it’s been amazingly few people, over an amazingly long time, who have sustained the Club, both financially and organisationally to ensure that funds are raised and problems solved. The voluntary work by all concerned has kept this Club alive since its very beginnings and many of them are still doing it.
Anthony Marsh, who sadly passed away so many years ago, was an integral part of the team for many years and was also Chairman. My son Paul has now taken up that responsibility and very conscientiously goes about the business of Springfield. Mr John Coombs is another major contributor. I am proud and pleased to be its President and His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent, our Honorary Patron, has also been a loyal supporter of our Club for many years.
All the folks, many of whom are parents of our members, put so much into the Club, providing their time in caring and conscientious work to keep the Club ticking along on Club nights, not to mention the summer camps.
The advertisers who commit to the wonderfully professional brochure, which was looked after by Patrick Stephens for many years, and is now produced by Haymarket through its F1 Racing magazine in such a beautiful way, carries names of some of the most prestigious global companies in the world, as well as British and local businesses that see the importance of keeping Springfield financially viable. Without their help our Club would certainly run into difficult times. The same could be said for the Bee Club which has supported Springfield for more than 40 years – it’s a wonderful organisation comprised of very generous people who have stayed close to the Club for all these years.
Social habits and many of the pressures brought upon young people today are of grave concern to all of us at Springfield. Our motto has always been to be in the business of building people and modern society makes that increasingly difficult in so many ways. Springfield and its staff are driven to try to battle against many of the influences that are so negative for the development of young people and their future.
As President of Springfield, I say on behalf of all the boys and girls, as well as our management team, most of whom have grown from within the Club, a very big thank you to all who have given so much to again ensure that Springfield stays healthy and well.
